Above-Ground Burial Options

Columbaria, Mausoleums & Crypts

Columbaria, mausoleums, and crypts provide dignified above-ground burial options designed for families seeking a lasting and accessible place of remembrance. Columbaria are structures that house cremation niches, while mausoleums and crypts offer above-ground entombment for caskets. These options are thoughtfully constructed to protect remains from the elements while offering a serene setting for visitation, reflection, and honoring loved ones.

Above-Ground Burial Planning

Burial spaces designed to accommodate individual preferences while supporting families through planning and ongoing care.

Garden of Peace Columbarium

Thoughtfully designed to provide a peaceful and reflective space, the Garden of Peace offers an elegant alternative for the memorialization of cremated remains. The niches are arranged within beautifully landscaped surroundings, creating a tranquil environment for remembrance and visitation. The Garden of Peace combines lasting beauty with convenience, offering families a dignified and enduring place to honor their loved ones.

Private Mausoleums and Crypts

Private mausoleums and crypts can also be built at The Greenwood Cemetery, allowing families to establish a permanent above-ground memorial on the grounds. These custom structures provide a private space for remembrance and are designed to preserve your family’s legacy in a dignified and lasting way. Our team assists with the planning and placement process to ensure each mausoleum or crypt meets cemetery standards while honoring your family’s wishes.

The J.R. Richards Mausoleum

The J.R. Richards Mausoleum, constructed around 1914, is a community mausoleum containing approximately 200 crypts, and sits off Hospital Road near one of the entrances into the monument side of the cemetery. This beautiful granite structure with art glass windows and marble floors is cared for by the cemetery staff.

Garden of Peace Veteran Niche Markers

Families of eligible veterans interred in the Garden of Peace should obtain a 8.5″ x 5.5″ bronze niche marker from the VA’s National Cemetery Administration. The marker can be installed on the side of the columbarium nearest the veteran’s niche. Typically, a funeral home or cremation service assists families with completing the necessary paperwork for a government marker.
